Welcome back :)  For this game we decided to do another write up. We have made an overhead filming rig but we still need a couple of clamps and a camera, so we decided to go back to back on written ones this week :) After a little discussing we decided to put our "meta" building on hold and do something a bit more laid back and fun. A little bit of searching on the affiliations lists, and researching online, we discovered that Web Warriors and Spider-Foes are considered to be in the bottom rung of the affiliation tier and least represented. We thought we would have a game with these two factions, maybe see why people felt how they did.

Game Prep.

Again, with no change from the norm, Adam wins priority and as both scenarios are 17 threat thats what we are building our teams for :)

Adam deploys first with Kingpin at the top, Venom, Okoye behind the Bugle building, Green Goblin and Taskmaster. I counter deploy with Medusa at the top, Spider-Pete, Okoye, Venom and Spider-Miles beside the bus stop.

Turn 1:

A
dam gets the ball rolling with Okoye (who will be referred to as Okoye1 for the report) and double moves her forward to the objective at the top, picking up the Spider-Infected token on the way there.
Spider-Pete takes advantage of his L move to double walk forward and pick up the central Spider-Infected.
Taskmaster moves forward and picks up the Spider-Infected token nearby.
Spider-Miles moves forward and picks up the Spider-Infected token in front of the bus stop.
Green Goblin double moves forward onto the objective above the yellow skip.
Okoye (who will be referred to as Okoye2 from now on) moves forward to behind the yellow mini digger and picks up the Spider-Infected token nearby.
Venom (who will be referred to as Venom1 from now on) double walks forward towards the centre of the board.
Medusa double walks forward to nearby Okoye2.
Kingpin double walks forward to in front of the Bugle stand.
Venom (who will be referred to as Venom2 from now on) double walks forward to stand near to Spider-Pete in the middle of the board.

Turn ends 4 - 5 to me.

Turn 2:

Okoye1 and Taskmaster get moved backwards from the Spider-Infected tokens.
Okoye2 and Spider-Miles get moved back and forward respectively from the Spider-Infected tokens.

During this phase, and after Spider-Miles gets moved, Green Goblin uses his superpower to blow up the nearby terrain and cause 2 damage to Miles.

Goblin activates first to capitalise on his sudden damage to Miles. He attacks and dazes the Spiderman in his first attack, causing the infected token to drop which he picks up. He then moves onto the objective token beside the garbage truck.
Spider-Pete moves and attacks Goblin causing 1 damage then pushes him off the objective token.
Kingpin moves forward and attacks Medusa for 3 damage, he also throws her at Venom2 but they play Brace to negate damage. The attack also applies stagger to the Inhuman Queen.
Medusa immediately shakes stagger then plays Medpack to heal damage. She attacks Venom1 for 2 damage and pushes him away from Kingpin. Finishing her activation, Medusa throws Kingpin S to place him further away.
Okoye1 activates, moves then attacks Venom2 for 2 damage. She then playes Advanced R&D to give 1 power to Kingpin, Venom1 and Goblin.
Venom2 flexes and throws an attack at Kingpin to cause 2 damage. He then throws Kingpin at Venom1 but fails to land a single point of damage on the symbiote. He then backs up S to get a bit of range between himself and his doppleganger.
Taskmaster moves back to the objective and attacks Spider-Pete for 2 damage.
Okoye2 moves back onto the objective beside the digger.
Venom1 moves forward and Web Snares Okoye2 to drag her off the objective. He then attacks her for 2 damage and finishes the turn by throwing Medusa at her, causing 1 damage to the Inhuman and dazing the Wakandan.

Turn ends 10 - 7 to Adam.

Turn 3:

Spider-Pete is moved laterally from the objective.
Goblin gets moved slightly to bump into Spider-Miles

Priority moves back to me and I have that all familiar feeling of scenario beginning to creep away from me. I need a strong start to the turn to remain in the game.

Okoye2 spends 3 power to play Bitter Rivals onto Green Goblin. Spider-Miles plays All Webbed Up to slow Goblin and Taskmaster then Web Swings onto the objective. He then attacks Taskmaster with the All Webbed Up Bonus and the Web Swing bonus to do 5 damage to the mercenary, throwing him into Goblin for another damage to daze him and do 1 damage to the flying menace.
Goblin attacks Spider-Pete but causes 0 damage. He follows up with a Hit and Run to daze Pete, drop his token and place it further away then move onto the objective with Miles.
Medusa throws Venom1 at Kingpin to cause 1 damage to the symbiote. She then attacks him for a further 1 damage and pushes him away. The Queen finishes her activation by walking to the objective.
Okoye1 double attacks Okoye2 for 2 damage initially, KOing her with the second attack.
Venom2 double walks towards the dazed Spider-Pete and secures the objective. He then plays Hired Muscle to bring the fallen Spider-Infected token closer and pick that up as well.
Venom1 moves and Web Snares Medusa off the objective, then attacks the Inhuman but fails to cause any damage.
Kingpin moves and attacks Medusa but also causes 0 damage, the then throws her for 1 damage.

Turn ends 15 - 10 to Adam

Turn 4:

Miles gets moved towards the edge of the board from the Spider-Infected. As he finishes the move Goblin blows up another piece of terrain to cause 3 damage.
Goblin gets moved to beside the lamp post from the token.

Adam is still comfortably ahead and unless something insane happens its unlikely I can score 6 points and keep him scoring only 1, as Okoye1 is sitting on an objective token with a Spider-Infected double scoring.

Spider-Miles Web Swings and attacks Taskmaster but fails to cause any damage. He then zaps Goblin for 4 damage leaving the maniac on 1 hp, also causing him to drop his objective token.
Venom1 and Kingpin pay power to play Disarm on Medusa. Venom1 attacks and dazes the nearby Inhuman, then moves towards the centre of the board.
Venom2 walks forward and attacks Goblin, dazing him. He then throws Taskmaster away towards the centre of the board.
Kingpin double walks onto the objective beside the digger.
Spider-Pete moves towards the centre of the board and throws Taskmaster further away, then moves back onto the objecitve.
Taskmaster moves and tries to hit Pete with a shield throw but fails to do any damage.
Okoye1 stays where she is.

Turn ends 19 - 13 to Adam

Well, interesting game. Neither side really felt as bad as people make them out to be. If anything their main drawback is possibly their lack of affiliated options, in the case of Spider-Foes the lack of affiliated TTCs was a big drawback. All Webbed Up is super strong and I think when the Amazing Spiderman comes out it'll make that card even more nasty.
As it seems to be the case in this game, one bad turn can cost you the game. Adam gaining a 3 point advantage in turn 2 was enough to basically win him the game, even when I had a strong couple of turns after. Not reinforcing the side with Medusa and Okoye with my Venom was a mistake, but was almost forced to commit him to the other side after Spider-Pete unexpectedly went down to a spikey dice roll and I rolled zero defence even with rerolls.
Coincidentally we found that in the Spider-infected scenario Goblin can be extra nasty as he can trigger his ability to explode terrain from the S move caused by the infected tokens. After this game I feel both affiliations definitely aren't as bad as some people make them out to be, mainly suffering from a lack of affiliated options which will hopefully be rectified somewhat when the Spiderman stuff comes out in June/July. :)
